Project Geologist – Exploration

LOCATION: Paddington

ROSTER: 5:2 (Residential) 8:6 (FIFO Ex Perth)

 

DUTIES

  • Responsible for geological field activities of staff, and contractors working on relevant drilling programs, including, but not limited to:
  • Liaising with all stakeholders to complete RD & Exploration drilling programs, safely, ensuring best practice, and maintaining cost efficiency
  • Maintaining safety requirements, monitoring/controlling breaches of Company policy
  • Understanding drilling proposals and exploration/resource concepts/techniques
  • Work area risk assessments, monitoring & inspections
  • Making material decisions based on geological knowledge.
  • Awareness of environment and heritage, including, but not limited to:
  • Awareness of environmental and heritage restrictions/guidelines
  • Review of heritage survey areas and conduct new surveys
  • Assess drill site clearing for minimum environmental impact and ease of rehabilitation
  • Process driven approach to data acquisition and geological interpretation, defining potential resources, including but not limited to:
  • Resource definition through geological interpretation/increasing geological confidence
  • Maintaining relevant QAQC principles and JORC requirements.
  • Working autonomously with tasks completed to a consistent and high professional standard
  • Support the department statutory & internal reporting obligations

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant Geology degree (BSC+) from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • 4+ years practical experience in the following is required; Resource definition (drilling), Exploration geology, Production mine geology, Database management
  • Competent with demonstrated skills in spreadsheet and presentation applications, word processing and Database applications.
  • Exposure to drill database management and 3D Mining Software – Surpac (desirable), Datamine, Micromine or similar.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, engage team to solve problems, and develop solutions. While earning respect through fair treatment of people, feedback, and mentoring of junior team members.
  • Satisfactory GSDU / NPC clearance.
  • Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable).
