LOCATION: Paddington
ROSTER: 5:2 (Residential) 8:6 (FIFO Ex Perth)
DUTIES
- Responsible for geological field activities of staff, and contractors working on relevant drilling programs, including, but not limited to:
- Liaising with all stakeholders to complete RD & Exploration drilling programs, safely, ensuring best practice, and maintaining cost efficiency
- Maintaining safety requirements, monitoring/controlling breaches of Company policy
- Understanding drilling proposals and exploration/resource concepts/techniques
- Work area risk assessments, monitoring & inspections
- Making material decisions based on geological knowledge.
- Awareness of environment and heritage, including, but not limited to:
- Awareness of environmental and heritage restrictions/guidelines
- Review of heritage survey areas and conduct new surveys
- Assess drill site clearing for minimum environmental impact and ease of rehabilitation
- Process driven approach to data acquisition and geological interpretation, defining potential resources, including but not limited to:
- Resource definition through geological interpretation/increasing geological confidence
- Maintaining relevant QAQC principles and JORC requirements.
- Working autonomously with tasks completed to a consistent and high professional standard
- Support the department statutory & internal reporting obligations
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Relevant Geology degree (BSC+) from a recognised tertiary institution.
- 4+ years practical experience in the following is required; Resource definition (drilling), Exploration geology, Production mine geology, Database management
- Competent with demonstrated skills in spreadsheet and presentation applications, word processing and Database applications.
- Exposure to drill database management and 3D Mining Software – Surpac (desirable), Datamine, Micromine or similar.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, engage team to solve problems, and develop solutions. While earning respect through fair treatment of people, feedback, and mentoring of junior team members.
- Satisfactory GSDU / NPC clearance.
- Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable).
