ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will support the business by providing technical direction to the maintenance and project teams, improves existing electrical infrastructure and ensures that installation and operations conform to standards and requirements by preparing electrical systems specifications, technical drawings and process flow.
You will also develop company standards for use throughout Norton and assist that all statutory obligations are managed and recorded. The Senior Electrical engineer will support the maintenance team with fault finding, condition monitoring improvement projects and major upgrades and equipment procurement.
KEY DUTIES AND TASKS
- Assist with electrical design reviews and preparation of drawings and specifications
- Support site electrical installation and QA/QC inspections
- Assist with ITPs, ITRs, and tracking non-conformances
- Participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
- Support troubleshooting and punch list close-out
- Assist with preparation of handover documentation
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Construction White Card
- Current C Class Driver’s Licence
- Willingness to obtain Schedule 26 / Section 44 training if required
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 3–5 years’ experience in electrical engineering, ideally within mining or heavy industry
- Exposure to electrical design, site installation, and commissioning activities
- Basic understanding of HV/LV systems, MCCs, protection, and control systems
- Familiarity with electrical design software such as AutoCAD (ETAP desirable)
- Knowledge of Australian electrical standards (AS/NZS)
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented approach
