ABOUT THE ROLE

Norton Gold Fields is seeking two Field Assistants who can provide our Geology Exploration and Resource Development Team with logistical support and who will be responsible for data collection and storage of core samples.

The Field Assistant will regularly interact with Geologists, drilling contractors and Site coordinators to ensure field tasks are completed to a high standard and in a timely matter.

 

KEY DUTIES AND TASKS

  • Collect and prepare diamond drill core for logging.
  • Photograph, cut & sample core as directed and deliver to the assay laboratory.
  • Collect RC samples from field and submit to laboratory.
  • Store remnant core & provide long term access and retrieval of diamond drill core and other samples.
  • Maintain Core yard to appropriate company standards.
  • Follow QAQC protocols for data collection and storage.
  • Assist with specific core measurement requirements, as required.
  • Update all information collected to the geological database in a timely and accurate manner.
  • General logistical and administrative support to Geological Team and other technical departments when required.
  • Assist in training inexperienced team members when required.
  • Provide support to the Field team Supervisor/s where and when required including development activities.
  • Other relevant duties as directed by the Field team Supervisor/s

 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience preferred but not essential
  • WA Manual – C Class Drivers Licence (Essential)
  • Valid work visa, permanent residency or Australian citizenship (Essential)
  • Senior First Aid (Desirable)
  • Satisfactory NPC Clearance (Essential)

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE  

WORK KNOWLEDGE

  • Some experience in mining related field activities preferred but not essential; Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative.
  • Strong commitment to safety and the environment.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Computer literate (e.g., Microsoft Office)

COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS

  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
