ABOUT THE ROLE
The purpose of the UG Operations Superintendent is to manage and control the underground mining operations on a daily basis. Working closely with the Underground General Manager and the Underground Technical team, the Underground Operations Superintendent will drive productivity, a positive safety culture and deliver underground budget physicals in a manner consistent with Norton Gold Fields’ company vision and values.

DUTIES
- On behalf of the Registered Manager, to manage all underground mining daily operations in accordance with the WHS Act 2020 & Regulations as well as Norton’s policies and procedures.
- Fulfill the statutory duties as required.
- Lead the Underground team to build a ‘zero harm’ working environment.
- Lead and manage the Underground team to achieve budgets (physicals and cost).
- Work with the Underground Technical team to ensure the Underground projects are executed on budget and on time.
- Create and drive a Continuous Improvement (CI) working environment for Underground operations.
- Actively support the Underground Managers to help build a positive culture within the team.
- Actively work with Norton Projects and Technical Service team to communicate and deliver results.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Proven track record in comparable role and operation is essential.
- Current unrestricted “C” Class WA Manual Driver’s License.
- Current Dangerous Goods Card.
- Mines Rescue experience (desirable).
- Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable).
- Experience in underground mining operations, including production, ventilation and Emergency Response.
- Good understanding of mine planning, mining engineering and geology.
- Proven experience with the operation and maintenance of underground mining plant and equipment
- Understanding of the statutory requirements including, Mining Safety and Inspection Act 1994 (WA) and Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations 1995 (WA).
- Western Australian Shift Supervisors certificate of competency (essential).
