We are seeking a Senior Automation and Control System Engineer to join our Binduli Operations team. This role is responsible for the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of plant control systems, ensuring reliability, availability and compliance across all processing systems.
Working closely with operations, maintenance and project teams, this position plays a key role in supporting plant performance, delivering control system upgrades and managing electrical and automation projects.
ROSTER: 8:6 (Residential or FIFO ex. Perth)
PACKAGE: $238,000 – $252,000 (incl allowances, superannuation, bonuses)
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Manage the day-to-day operation and reliability of plant control systems including PLC, SCADA, DCS and HMI platforms
- Develop and implement control strategies to optimise plant performance, recovery and efficiency
- Troubleshoot control system, instrumentation and automation issues to minimise downtime
- Maintain and upgrade control system hardware and software to ensure reliability and security
- Lead control system improvements, modifications and upgrade projects
- Develop scopes of work, cost estimates and commissioning plans for electrical and automation projects
- Supervise contractors and project personnel to ensure work is completed safely, on time and within budget
- Maintain accurate documentation, backups and change records for all control system modifications
- Provide training and technical support to operations and maintenance personnel
- Work closely with suppliers and support providers to maintain system performance
- Conduct inspections, safety observations and hazard reporting in line with site requirements
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across plant operations
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems or related discipline
- Strong experience with PLC, SCADA, DCS and HMI control systems
- Experience working in mining, minerals processing or heavy industry environments
- Demonstrated experience maintaining and improving plant control systems
- Experience delivering electrical or automation projects from design through to commissioning
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and control logic
- Experience supervising contractors or technical teams
- Strong understanding of safety and statutory requirements within mining operations
- High-level problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
- Current C Class Driver’s Licence
- WA Electrical Licence, HV Switching or Instrumentation qualifications desirable
- Experience with Honeywell, Schneider, GE or similar control systems highly regarded
WHAT WE OFFER
