Norton Gold Fields Pty Ltd (Norton) is one of Australia’s largest domestic gold producers, with recent annual production of up to 180,000 ounces from its Eastern Goldfields mining and processing operations.
Norton has gold Mineral Resources of 10.35Moz and Ore Reserves of 1.11Moz. The Company’s tenements in the region continue to demonstrate considerable exploration upside from more than 80 known prospects.
Norton is progressing expansion plans to develop a series of low grade expansion projects in the region, commencing with the Binduli North heap leach mining operation and standalone processing infrastructure.
Binduli North is located approximately 10km west of Kalgoorlie and 2km north of Great Eastern Highway. It will build on Norton’s existing residentially operated projects in the Eastern Goldfields region of WA.
The overall planned investment in expansion projects amounts to $470 million over the medium term, with $180 million allocated for the initial Binduli North development.
Binduli North will add to economic activity in the region during the construction period, but more importantly will provide 250 ongoing FTE jobs once operational. Norton has already added more than 40 full times roles in Kalgoorlie to support it expansion project team.
The Project is in the advanced stages of obtaining construction approvals, with works anticipated to commence in June 2021 and commissioning scheduled for the first quarter of 2022.
Once commissioned, the Project will treat 5 Mtpa (dry) of ore at a head grade of 0.64g/t, adding an expected annual average of 80,000 ounces of gold to Norton’s production profile.
